A 21-year-old Maine man wanted on seven separate charges was arrested at his Newport home after police found him hiding in a bed's box spring.

The Morning Sentinel reports Zachary McFarlin was apprehended Wednesday on warrants for domestic violence assault, unlawful sexual contact, cruelty to animals and several other charges.

Chief Leonard Macdaid says McFarlin also was arrested on new charges of assault on an officer, resisting arrest and violating conditions of release.

Macdaid says police have been looking for McFarlin for a couple months. Officers found him in the box spring of his bed, which he had fashioned into a hiding place.

McFarlin was taken to the Penobscot County Jail. It wasn't immediately known if he had a lawyer, and a phone number couldn't be found for him. - NEWPORT, Maine (AP)
