Police Make Arrest In Meth Investigation in Oakland And Waterville

Maine Drug Enforcement served three search warrants this morning as part of a month-long investigation into the manufacturing of methamphetamine in central Maine. Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said one person has been arrested and several others are being questioned. Two search warrants were served at 11 Center St. in Oakland, and the other at a room at the Waterville Fireside Inn & Suites on Main Street, McCausland said.

A wing of the motel has been evacuated based upon an initial assessment by MDEA's Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement Team personnel. The team members, wearing protective suits, will search the room at the motel and at the Oakland location. There was evidence found in the motel room of meth manufacturing and because that process is highly flammable and explosive, the decision was made to evacuate the motel wing, said McCausland

In addition, a vehicle has also been seized in Skowhegan in conjunction with the investigation. According to McCausland, MDEA is being assisted by federal, state, county and local police as well as local fire departments, EMS and Maine's Department of Environmental Protection.
