A big smile and a firm handshake. That's how I was greeted this morning by retired Maine State Trooper Mark Nickerson. He came in to talk about a book signing he and retired Warden John Ford Sr. will do at Lithgow Library in Augusta on Saturday...

The books are the two public safety officials' accounts of real life incidents that occurred in the line of duty. Many are funny, some are sad, still others are tragic. As Mark told me this morning, "you can't make this stuff up."
