Ruben Studdard first gained fame as 'The Velvet Teddy Bear,' the 2003 winner of 'American Idol.' But despite his gentle demeanor and soulful voice, Studdard was battling a weight problem that had him weighing 462 pounds and recently coping with a Type 2 diabetes diagnosis when he joined 'The Biggest Loser' in its 14th season.

And despite his elimination, the singer did not give up -- and worked hard to lose almost a quarter of his weight, noting that he would not undergo surgery to shed the pounds.

"The one thing I have to make myself do every day is get my big butt out the bed and go to the gym," Studdard said to the audience's applause. "Every single day. Well, six days a week," he amended. "I don't work out on Sundays."

It seems as if the former 'American Idol' winner has a lot to look forward to these days -- besides his new figure, Studdard's sixth album is set to come out in February.
