Maine.gov, the state's official website, was offline Monday morning (03/23/15) for a short period of time due to hackers from Russia.New Hampshire's state website was also hacked.

A group with the Twitter handle Vikingdom2015, says they're the ones responsible for taking down both state websites.

Maine Secretary of State, Mathew Dunlap is calling it an "external attack" and Governor Paul LePage, in a statement, said information on the site was not compromised and there were no leaks because of the hack. LePage continued to say, it was a "denial of service" hack.

Maine.gov is back up and running fine at the time this story was posted.
