Seven Arrested In Augusta On Crack and Heroin Charges

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and officers from the Augusta Police Department arrested seven people on Monday (Nov. 2) on crack and heroin charges.

According to Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland, five of the seven people arrested were from New York City. McCausland said officers seized 108 grams of crack cocaine, 66 grams of heroin, a half-pound of marijuana, two loaded handguns and over $13,000 in cash while making arrests at the Senator Inn and an apartment at 41 Gage St. McCausland said the street value of the seized drugs was $25,000.

McCausland said that the following people were arrested at the Senator Inn:

• Kashawn McLaughlin, 25, of New York City. He was charged with: 2 counts aggravated trafficking Schedule “W” Drugs (firearm) Also arrested on warrant for Trafficking in Schedule “W” Drugs, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and a fugitive warrant for a parole violation out of New York.
• Tymell R Waters, 30, of New York City. Charged with: 2 counts aggravated Trafficking Schedule “W” Drugs (firearm)
• Frederick Rogers, 32, of New York City. He was charged with: 2 counts aggravated Trafficking Schedule “W” Drugs (firearm) Possession of a firearm by a prohibited person
• Porchia D Woodard, 25, of New York City. Charged with 2 counts of Aggravated Trafficking Schedule “W” Drugs (firearm)
• Davina Abdusalan, 23, of New York City. Charged with 2 counts of Aggravated Trafficking Schedule “W” Drugs (firearm)
• Donna L Hall, 45, of Augusta. Charged with 2 counts of aggravated trafficking Schedule “W” Drugs.

McCausland added that Melissa Clark, 31, of Augusta, was arrested at the Gage Street apartment and charged with one count of Trafficking Schedule "W" drugs.

McCausland said the Kennebec Sheriff’s Office and the federal Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agency assisted in the arrests.  The Augusta Police Department’s Special Response Team were also utilized in the arrests at the motel.

MDEA Director Roy McKinney and Deputy Augusta Police Chief Jared Mills said the arrests highlight the continuing problem of out of state drug dealers coming into Maine.   “Augusta Police would like to thank all of the Law Enforcement Agencies who assisted with this investigation," Mills said."As a result, we have taken another significant step in ridding our community of illegal drug activity.  We would also like to point out that one of recent drug detectives that was added by the city of Augusta also played a significant role in expediting this investigation in order to bring it to a successful resolution yesterday.  We look forward to future collaborations in our ongoing fight against drugs.”
