Shakira took a break from recording her next album to discuss her holiday traditions, family and more on this morning's (Dec. 16) 'TODAY' Show.

The busy new mom, superstar singer and philanthropist sat down with interviewer Jenna Bush Hager for the morning show's 'Home for the Holidays' series, which so memorably brought us last week's off-the-wall interview with Mariah Carey.

The Shakira segment was much more sedate, however, with the singer sharing details and photos of her life with soccer superstar partner Gerard Pique and their 10-month-old Milan (who is adorably all cheeks, btw)! She also discussed what the holidays are like back home in her native Colombia.

"Christmas in Colombia is a whole different story," she told Hager. "You're not going to hear a lot of the traditional Christmas carols. We have adaptations to those songs in merengue and salsa rhythm. But it's all about the family and spending time with your loved ones."

She treated Hager to a quick song before the duo discussed Shakira's Barefoot Foundation, which aims to help educate children in need. Shakira and Jenna even stuffed some bags of donated school supplies together on camera.

"We often ask ourselves, 'Why am I here?'" Shakira said. "I know I'm not here to eternally shake it. You know, I love my career ... but definitely working with children has been one of the most satisfying and fulfilling things that I've done in my life."
