Maine could be moving to a new time zone. According to the Sun Journal, a measure is under consideration by the Committee on State and Local Government, that would in effectively lock Maine into daylight saving all year, instead of just spring to fall.

The bill is sponsored by Rep. Kathleen Dillingham, R-Oxford, and has nine co-sponsors. Supporters say it would “increased economic opportunities and less energy consumption in addition to offering more daylight in the afternoon and evening.”

If the measure makes it through lawmakers, it would then go to Mainers to vote on and then approval would be needed from either Congress or the U.S. Department of Transportation.
