An Oregon school district is banning Santa Claus, They are asking their staff who want to decorate to not use "religious-themed decorations or images like Santa."

I guess this is where the issue comes from. Even though it's origins come from a Christian background, hasn't Santa become just more of a folk-lore image now?

One parent told Fox 59 in Oregon, "I'm from that generation where we believe in Santa, and my kids believe in Santa, and they should be able to celebrate it."

Lizzy Acker from The Oregonian/OregonLive takes the other side saying, "Imagine if you were a Jewish kid or a Muslim kid or Hindu kid and Santa Claus is all over the classroom and your peers are going on and on and on about how he's going to leave them such awesome stuff on Christmas."
