Why can't the minority accept that the majority wants to keep the name "Indians" attached to Skowhegan High School? Political correctness running amok? I think so.

In my humble opinion, the fact that this is back in the news tells me that the majority's opinion doesn't matter. A majority of people who spoke at a meeting earlier this year did not want a name change.

A tribal representative has filed a discrimination complaint with the Maine Human Rights Commission in order to keep the issue alive.

Here's a quote from a Bangor Daily News article in May:

At last month’s forum, most of the people present were against the name change, saying the mascot is a tradition. However, representatives from local tribes say the name is racist and deeply offensive and they want school officials to change it.
