Bears. Beets. Star Trek: Discovery? Somewhere, Dwight Schrute feels a chill in the air, as Office alum Rainn Wilson beams aboard the Star Trek franchise with a character that should prove familiar to fans of the original series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wilson will guest in an unknown number of episodes as Harry Mudd, described as a “charismatic conman and intergalactic criminal” who debuted in the original Star Trek. The character was portrayed by Roger C. Carmel, and referenced during the events of franchise reboot film Star Trek Into Darkness.

Now set for a late summer-early fall premiere, Star Trek: Discovery has among the cast Sonequa Martin-Green as Lt. Commander Rainsford, Jason Isaacs as Captain Lorca, James Frain as Spock’s father Sarek, Doug Jones as an alien science officer, Adam Rapp as the TV franchise’s first openly-gay character and Michelle Yeoh as Captain of a different ship, along with assorted crew and several Klingon roles. Ex-showrunner Bryan Fuller also recently stepped up to clarify his limited involvement in the project going forward.

Shooting in Toronto, the new 13-episode Star Trek: Discovery is officially said to take place 10 years before Kirk’s original Enterprise mission, as well to be “heavily serialized.” The new series will also explore the fallout of an event referenced, but never seen in the original series. Wrath of Khan director Nicholas Meyer has also joined the creative side along with Gene Roddenberry’s son Rod, fan-favorite Voyager novel alum Kirsten Beyer, franchise vet Joe Menosky and Heroes writer Aron Coleite.

Star Trek: Discovery will hopefully formulate a premiere plan soon, but watch the production teaser below.
