The new fire station on the Leighton Road in Augusta is now open. The ribbon cutting was Thursday night.

The new station has been in the works for about a decade. Construction has happened over the last year and a half and now it's ready to go!

With a workout room, kitchen and living areas, bunk rooms, storage space, office space for fire and EMS...there is an amble area to store and maintain Augusta newest fire truck and other equipment.

The place is lovely! It is not fancy but seems super functional and comfortable for those women and men who work those long shifts.

Chief Audette told me that Sundays in June from 10-2 there will be open house events for the public! YOU have to check this out!

MaineUAV.com has been following this project since before ground breaking with drone video and shots and will be producing a final video from when it was a field to this final reveal.
