Stephen Colbert may finally have hit his stride on CBS, but can The Late Show reach the incisive heights of The Colbert Report? We may never need to find out, as the fictional “Stephen Colbert” once again puts in an appearance, this time taking on Trump’s draconian budget.

The conservative “Colbert” (who, for legal reasons, we must remind you is distinct from The Colbert Report “Stephen Colbert”) made yet another return to The Late Show on Monday, bringing the signature “Werd” (which, for further reasons, we must also remind you is legally distinct from “The Word”). After the reintroduction, Colbert relinquished the desk to “Colbert” in order to weigh in on the Trump budget’s most notable cuts, particularly the “Meals on Wheels” program.

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert has been pulling down its best ratings yet, even besting Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show week-to-week, but it’s always nice when some of those old gags resurface, or friendly faces like Jon Stewart come out to play.

In the meantime, watch the full clip of Colbert’s return above, and stay tuned for more Late Show.
