The Boston Bruins scored early and often in their preseason game against the Islanders on their way to a 6-1 win.With less than a week before the season opener, the younger players on the roster are trying to land a spot with Boston as the front office decides who will break camp with the team. Ryan Spooner helped his cause by scoring two goals and adding an assist to lead the Bruins offense.

Bruins goalie Malcom Subban stopped 32 shots in net while their former goalie Chad Johnson, now with the Islanders stopped 18.

New York coach and former UMaine Black Bear Jack Capuano watched the game from stands, allowing their AHL coach to run the team as the game was played at the arena of their affiliate in Bridgeport.

Boston will play its final preseason game Saturday against the Red Wings and then get ready for the season opener on Wednesday against the Flyers.
