On this day in 1953, 60 years ago, Swanson sold their first TV dinner. I very seldom buy or eat them because I can't figure out how to microwave them so they are edible. For the three or four dollars I'd rather have Hot Pockets or few items off the dollar menu at the drive thru in a pinch.

I loved them as a child. There again, I think Mom used the oven to heat them up not a microwave because they came on an aluminum tray. Always liked the fried chicken dinner, but the potatoes and dessert were, so-so. Now you can buy the XL size, but again I can't seem to get the mashed potatoes cooked correctly.

How about you? Do you eat them on occasion or have a favorite TV dinner?
