Maybe you were affected, I know we were at work. Time Warner Internet was down in the Augusta area for a large chunk of the day. Some lost phone service as well but all was returned to normal around 3pm. The reason for the outage was a faulty router.
To be fair, the proposals we talked about weren't all strange but they were a little out of the ordinary and those are the types of things we'll talk about early on Monday mornings with Senator Katz of Augusta....
At about 3 pm this afternoon, March 21, a fire broke out at 146 Northern Avenue Augusta. It was a four unit apartment complex. One resident was taken to the hospital to be checked out. The building, built in 1928, is a loss.
Augusta native and philanthropist Elsie Viles passed away this weekend. She was 98. I never met Mrs. Viles, but I was thinking about her this weekend while I was at the Viles Arboretum in Augusta. I did not know at that time of her passing.
Let me start by saying I love a lively downtown area, anywhere. I love the older building and think they can be a hub for exciting local business opportunity. But, would changing the traffic pattern in Augusta really make a difference?
So I get here to the station this morning and all I hear when I get out of my truck is the eerie sound of hundreds of crows in the parking lot. These unpredictable birds show up from time to time and, today, I thought I'd scare them a bit!

Legislative leaders have said OK to Maine Public Broadcasting Network and expanding State House coverage. It should be kind of like a local version of C-SPAN. The idea was approved by the House and Senate leaders. The free, over-the-air MPBN State House TV channel is devoted exclusively to coverage of the Legislature and government affairs.
Every session bills are introduced by the Maine Legislature, many involving very important issues and topics. Others, well they can be just a bit quirky. Take a look at what some members of the 126th will be discussing on behalf of their constituents.
