The federal government honors Christopher Columbus on the second Monday of October every year with Columbus Day. The Bangor City Council on Monday (Aug. 29) voted to change the holiday in the city to Indigenous Peoples Day.
Today, Oct. 14, is Columbus Day. And as the years go by some to many Americans feel that Christopher Columbus shouldn't be celebrated. Many say he didn't discover America, and it was always here.
