An elderly woman in Augusta was bit last Thursday (March 17) by a rabid raccoon. Augusta police say the incident occurred in the area of Sewall Street, and that other raccoons have been spotted in the area.
This weekend is the State of Maine Sportsman Show at the Augusta Civic Center. Among the booths will be one for ‘Becoming an Outdoors Woman in Maine’. Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) is about women learning about and becoming comfortable with outdoorsy stuff. (and it is FUN!)

There is a chance that Maine's "Chickadee Check-Off" program could vanish from Maine tax forms unless Mainers support it. The tax form check-off has been part of the Maine tax form for 30 years. The money supports the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife's Endangered and Nongame Wildlife Fund.
