Augusta native and former Olympian Julia Clukey, announced her retirement from the sport of luge earlier this week. Today (Aug. 11) she took time to join us on the Moose Morning Show, to talk about what led to her decision and what is next for her.
It's always a treat when U.S. Olympian, Julia Clukey of Augusta (Luge), stops by. She has been running a girls camp with the YMCA for a couple of years in Readfield and, on Saturday, will have a reunion and open house for all interested in coming, at the YMCA's Harold Alfond Gymnasium!
Julia Clukey is an Augusta native and world class ‘luge-er’. Is that right word? A person who takes part in the sport of the luge. Luge is the sport where you are in a tiny little sled and you go down an iced course. It’s fast and thrilling. So how does a young woman from Augusta, Maine become a world class competitor at this level?
We always love talking with Julia Clukey on the Moose Morning Show. Not only is she a great Olympic athlete from central Maine, but she is just a wonderful role model. She's on a fantastic run too!
Augusta native Julia Clukey has a full plate. For starters, she's on the world stage competing in an adrenaline-fueled sport. When she's on her luge sled, she has a single focus...winning the race. When she is home, it's family, friends and helping kids succeed in whatever they put their minds to.
Augusta Native and U.S. Olympian Julia Clukey was with her nephew Wednesday night enjoying the 92 Moose Free Family Halloween Party and was outed by my very observant eye! Actually, I was tipped off by a couple of other party goers that she was in the house so I scanned the crowd and found her!
