It's that time of year again...Father's Day Weekend AND the Trek Across Maine for the American Lung Association! This year, Marie-Anne celebrates her 8th year biking the 180, plus or minus, miles from Sunday River to the coast. It use to end at the Owl's Head Transportation Museum but now winds up in Belfast. A much nicer choice for a Father's Day ending because I get my gift...lunch at Rollie's Bar and Grill!

Maine House Passes A Bill Requiring GMO Labeling In Foods

I’m always a little hesitant when writing about newsy things I don’t really know a lot about. I did see that the Maine House voted 141-4 on a bill that would require food manufacturers to disclose whether the food has genetically modified organisms or GMOs for short. I don’t really know a lot about these food experiments. I knew experiments were going on in labs and that Monsanto is the king of modifying food but that's really it.

Auburn School Budget Goes to Voters Tomorrow, Please Vote

I am not writing this to tell you how to vote by any means, but to say how important this is to you if you live in Auburn (or any other town for that matter.) Tomorrow, Auburn votes on the school budget. The city is looking for a 6.9% increase over last year to make the budget for the 2013-2014 school year $38.4 million. The state is supplying a little over $760,000, but it would mean an increase in property taxes.
