Greg Michaels' Cat, "Sweetie" Goes To The Vet For A Well Visit

Today we took "Sweetie," our new cat to the vet for her free "welcome to our practice visit." We adopted "Sweetie" last Sunday at the Great Androscoggin Humane Society. When you adopt, you get a free visit to use within a week or two. We took "Sweetie" to our vet, "Thunder's" doctor, Dr. Rennix at the Poland Animal Hospital. I love them. If you live close to Lewiston/Auburn or Minot/Mechanic Falls, I would fully recommend them.

For some time our family has been talking about getting a second cat, as a playmate or friend for "Thunder." So yesterday, Lynn and I told the kids we'd go to The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society just to look. "Just to look" is I guess code in our house for bring the cat carrier just in case. "Bring the cat carrier" is code for we're not just looking. I say in this all in fun, but how can you not take home a kitty after you seem them?

Maine has the second highest number of cat owners. Vermont tops the list. In Maine more than 46% of homes have a cat and in Vermont it is just under 50%! New Hampshire was tenth on the list. So, Northern New England likes its puddy cats.

ShadowDog is sporting his new tags for the year. He has the new rabies and the City of Augusta dog registration tags. I must admit, I have not always been so diligent about registering dogs in the past, but years ago someone from the Kennebec Valley Humane Society explained to me the reason it is SO important.
