The Augusta Police are warning residents about a phone scam where people are getting called and threatened with arrest for missing jury duty, and the only way to avoid arrest is to pay a "fine."
Central Maine Power has issued a warning to customers about a phone scam. This one involves a caller posing as utility company employees and threatening to cut electricity services.
Be aware of another phone scam going around. According to centralmaine.com, there have been calls purportedly from IRS agents saying the person owes money and must send it immediately or they could be arrested or sued.
