The Kennebec County Sheriff's office is investigating a robbery today (August 3) at the Rite Aid, 943 Western Avenue, Manchester. The incident happened just after 12 noon. The suspected robber indicated to the pharmacist that he was armed with a gun. The robber got away with a number of prescription narcotics.
This morning (April 21) a vehicle crashed into the Rite Aid on Main St. in Damariscotta. The accident happened around 10:15 am and caused extensive damage to the building and the car. No one was injured.
Rite-Aid in Bangor is going to be adding security guards to try and stop the wave of pharmacy robberies happening. While Augusta is the community with the most pharmacies for the year (so far), 4 of the 54 pharmacy robberies in Maine this year have been at the same Bangor Rite Aid.
A guy showed up at Rite Aid on Bangor Street in Augusta yesterday and demanded prescription medication, which he got. He then bolted into the bathroom where he barricaded himself from police claiming to have an explosive device and would blow the place up....
I cheered when I heard an employee at Rite Aid in Pittsfield, during the store's third robbery in the last eleven months, told the would-be thief, who claimed to have a gun (but never showed it), "you aren't getting pills."
