I probably wrote something similar last year, but I feel the need to write about it again this year. I am thankful that in Maine, we don't have shopping for the most part on Thanksgiving.
Over the years, self service is creeping more and more into our lives. First, gas fill-ups and ATMs, then came the EZ pass, grocery self checkout and now DVD vending machine rentals and online shopping. Do you buy a lot online? Are we losing something here aside from a few jobs like our ability to communicate face-to-face?
Earlier in the halls here at work today I joked and said "tomorrow it is six months until Christmas." I got the usual groans and other responses normally given to saying that at this time of year or really any time of year aside from the late fall leading up to Christmas.
'The Moose is Loose' this afternoon (May 10) at the Marketplace at Augusta. Join me from 1pm to 4pm as we 'Celebrate Mom' and enter Mom into win a $500 shopping spree, gift bag of merchant gift cards, dinner for 4 at the Red Robin and 4 tickets to Regal Cinema.
Earlier this morning in my Facebook feed I came across some website asking if you were "man enough" to buy feminine products and that inspired this post. Let's have a little fun with this. Are there any items that you refuse to buy or are reluctant to pick up out of embarrassment?
How does the old joke go? "Is that a (blank) in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?" I have a feeling this guy is going to hear that joke a few times. Jonathan Hood of Manchester, New Hampshire is accused of putting poultry in his pocket and watching out of a grocery store.
So, how has your "Black Friday" shopping gone so far? We’re you out at midnight? Have you rested since you started? Every "Black Friday" I think of those who work retail. Yes, they don’t have a chance to watch the clock or get bored but what a day I’m sure.
We are two months away from Christmas. Have you started your Christmas shopping yet? It’s hard not to think of it because all of the stores now have Holiday sections and decorations up now.
My daughter, Michelle, called me up last night and asked if I'd join her and Jeremy or a trip to Fortin's on Friday. I told her it depended on what I was doing with Marie Anne being it was our last vacation day. Suffice it to say, it wasn't beach weather so I decided I'd go shopping with the young'uns for a new washer/dryer....
Snoop Lion, formally known as Snoop Doggy Dogg and Snoop Dogg, apparently has a new business venture. He has his own store on Overstock.com, it is called the SnooperMarket. OK, that is kind of cute. But cute is not a word I associate with Snoop Lion.
As we welcome summer I decided 'I needed a new grill'. So I set out to find one that was not too costly and not too big and would withstand a fair amount of use. UGH. I really was totally unprepared for my task, so I went home empty handed. Here is what I have found in doing some research ‘how to buy a grill’.
If you're a regular listener to the Moose Morning Show or to me in the early afternoon, you know I recently had back surgery. The recovery has been slow because of major nerve irritation. My problem is I am in pain most of the time and can not stay in the same position, standing or sitting for very long. Yeah, yeah bring out the pity patrol.
What a beautiful day to be out and about. Lynn and I did just that, went out. Originally we went looking for a graphing calculator for Dylan. With the weather in our travels we got the bug to look at possible spring and summer home upgrade projects.
