In this new age of ultra-hi-def-liquid-frame-3D-VR-cystal-lava-screen-immersion TVs that you and I can have in our own home theaters, the old classics just don’t look as good anymore. Movies that seemed like the height of technology back when televisions were still cube-shaped look jerky and unfocused now that we’re so used to seeing the highest-definition image possible, so 4K restorations are now on the rise. Gareth Edwards, director of Rogue One, says that Lucasfilm is in possession of a 4K version of the original Star Wars, but has no idea when the rest of us will get to see it.

In what may turn out to be one more giant hardship for 2016, troubling reports are coming in that Star Wars legend and all-around icon Carrie Fisher may be in critical condition. Fisher reportedly suffered a “massive” heart-attack aboard an airplane, and has been rushed to the hospital.

A couple of weeks back, someone asked Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy about a possible Rogue One sequel — a silly question given the film’s position in the Star Wars timeline, but not an entirely absurd one in this age of blockbuster franchises. The answer is, of course, no; there won’t be a Rogue One sequel because there already is a Rogue One sequel (it’s called A New Hope; maybe you’ve heard of it), and yet, Felicity Jones has the option to appear in a spinoff follow-up in her contract. Confusing? Not so much. Spoilers ahead!

One of the biggest questions we were left with at the end of The Force Awakens, aside from “Do you think Luke makes his own organic soap out there on that space island?” was “Who the heck are Rey’s parents?” It’s a question that won’t be answered in the Star Wars universe until Episode VIII hits theaters late next year…unless you’re a real smarty-pants like Daisy Ridley.

Over the past couple of years, policemen have fallen pretty far out of favor with the American people. The U.S. police force is in dire need of a little PR management, something that shows their sense of humor and gives a more human, relatable slant to the boys in blue.

We’ve seen trailers of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, we’ve rewatched clips on loop, and today Lucasfilm and Twitter collaborated to debut never-before-seen footage from the upcoming spin-off.

Look, pretty much every Star Wars fan with functioning brain cells knows that there won’t be a sequel to Rogue One, but there’s an unspoken (and kind of dumb) rule in any setting which involves people asking questions and receiving answers about movies: If it can be asked, someone will ask it, especially if it’s a question with a really obvious answer — like “will there be a sequel to Rogue One?”

Fresh from its premiere this morning on Good Morning America, here it is: The new Rogue One: A Star Wars Story trailer. Gareth Edwards directs this direct prequel to the original Star Wars about a plucky band of rebels charged with finding the weakness in the Galactic Empire’s new weapon, the Death Star.

Lucasfilm has a pretty full slate between now and 2020, with one new Star Wars movie hitting theaters each year — and yes, that includes the mysterious third anthology film which once had Josh Trank attached to direct. We have plenty of Star Wars to keep us busy for the next few years, but according to Disney CEO Bob Iger, Lucasfilm hasn’t forgotten about that third spinoff project, which is still in the works along with tentative plans for more franchise installments beyond 2020.

Eventually, the cycle of rumors and deflation around a possible live-action Star Wars TV series will resemble the wait for new movies a few years back, but isn’t ending anytime soon. Networks like ABC have had discussions of a possible live-action TV series, though Disney and ABC boss Ben Sherwood doesn’t believe it would happen until after all the planned movies.

All has been quiet on the ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ front since production wrapped earlier this summer. We haven’t seen a trailer, any footage, official photos, or anything close to a synopsis. When it comes to a subtitle, don’t expect to hear anything for a while.

As often as a seventh Star Wars movie seemed like a lost hope, TV fans have wondered if the franchise would ever make good on a live-action TV series to further the brand. Time and time again, rumors have spread, while the latest sees ABC bosses acknowledging they’d love to host one, and still talk to Lucasfilm about the possibility.

But if you were watching the live-feed from the convention, you know that right before the panel wrapped up, Kathleen Kennedy introduced a brand-new Rogue One trailer, that wasn’t streamed live on YouTube. If you weren’t in the room, you were out of luck.
