The Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team will be in Augusta (Aug. 8) and Old Orchard Beach (Aug. 9) this week. On Friday the team will play the Togus VA Medical Center Employees at 5:00 pm at the Mt. Vernon Avenue field.
Felix Thibodeau, IV, 17, a Nokomis Regional High School student from Etna has received a well deserved national recognition. He is a member of the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp and led efforts to raise more than $22,000 for the VA Maine Healthcare System-Togus and its work with homeless veterans.
The 'Moose is Loose' this Wednesday (May 21) at the annual 'VA 2K Walk & Roll' at the VA Medical Center - Togus, Augusta. It's sponsored by the VA Maine Healthcare Systems to raise awareness of the needs of Maine's homeless veterans and to support employee health and wellness. It's estimated that at any given time there are more than 100 homeless veterans in Maine, suffering from lack of a place to live and other basic necessities. This is a great, fun way you can help.

An email I received from a fellow DAR member (yes, I am DAR!) said the number of Valentines to Togus have fallen over the years. But if we all do an extra card or two we can change that.
