Michael Shannon has played more than a few nefarious types in his career, but none of them come close to Richard Kuklinski, aka "The Iceman." A vicious hitman with at least 100 corpses to his credit, he's all the more horrifying because Kuklinski was actually a real person. And 'The Iceman' is his story.

Check out the new trailer for the crime thriller after the break.

Based on the book 'The Iceman: The True Story of a Cold-Blooded Killer,' the film documents how Kuklinski led a shocking double life, becoming the most notorious professional assassin in American history while happily hosting neighborhood barbecues in suburban New Jersey. By his own estimate, he killed more than 200 men (apparently his accounts varied over the years), taking enormous pride in his variety and ferocity of technique, while his family never suspected a thing.

In addition to the imposing Shannon, 'The Iceman' has a very impressive supporting cast, including Chris Evans (as a murderous partner), Winona Ryder, James Franco, David Schwimmer, Stephen Dorff and Ray Liotta (because you can't have a movie about the mafia without Ray Liotta). It's scheduled for release this May from Millennium Films, but until then, check out the latest trailer below.
