Less than perfect fruits and veggies will now have a place at Hannaford.  According to WGME the 'Misfits' will have a special area in the store and will be sold a discount. It's the same quality...they just are not as perfect in appearance as the other fruits and veggies.

Lewiston has done a report on pedestrian safety that help them make some safety improvements. According to the Sun Journal some thing can be done quiet soon other will take a little bit more coordination with Maine DOT.

A bill has been introduced to keep dog safer in a vehicle. Portland Press Herald said  it would it require dogs to be harnessed in a vehicle, they can't ride in front seat and can't put their head out the window. There is a public hearing on this on March 17th.  Here is mor

The Waterville City Council voted to OK a TIF and development plan for a  residential complex for Colby College in downtown. According to centrlmaine.com it was the last thing approving the project.

A plan to create a lottery system to allow new people into Maine's lucrative baby eel fishery is up for a key committee vote on Wednesday. State lawmakers are considering starting a lottery system to replace fishermen who leave the elver fishery. The baby eels are fished from rivers and streams to be sold to Asian aquaculture companies so they can be used as food.

A coalition of commercial fishing groups has filed a lawsuit to challenge the creation of a national monument off the coast of New England. President Barack Obama created the monument in September using executive authority under the Antiquities Act. Fishing groups filed their lawsuit Tuesday in federal court.

Outdoors retailer L.L. Bean is recalling some snowshoes. The Maine outdoor retailer says it's pulling 3,000 adjustable snowshoes because the plastic material can weaken break, posing a fall hazard. The company reports four failures, but no injuries.

China is offering a diplomatic proposal it hopes will ease the looming crisis with North Korea, which test fired four ballistic missiles this week. The regime is expressing outrage at the annual joint U.S.-South Korea military exercises. A senior Chinese diplomat proposed that the North could suspend its nuclear and missile activities in exchange for a halt in drills. China also opposes the U.S. deployment of an advance missile defense system. A White House official says the proposal is not new.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is predicting final passage of the new Republican health care reform bill by April. GOP leaders hope to jam the proposal through Congress, but some of the strongest opposition is from congressional budget hawks and outside conservative groups. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer says the measure is "a tax cut for the wealthy with some health insurance provisions tacked alongside of it."

It's unclear what went wrong in Biloxi, Mississippi, on Tuesday when a charter bus filled with seniors on a casino trip crossed in front of a freight train. The impact killed four people and injured 40 more, seven of them critically. The group had traveled from central Texas. A woman who lives near the crossing said she heard a loud boom and knew immediately what happened.

Three years after it vanished somewhere over the Indian Ocean, the Australian government minister in charge of the suspended seabed search for a Malaysia Airlines jet says he's hopeful it will be found. A ceremony was held in Brisbane, Australia, on Wednesday to mark the anniversary of the disappearance of Flight 370. The airliner carried 239 passengers and crew.
