A bus with the Cony High School baseball and softball players was in a minor crash yesterday. CentralMaine.com reports the crash was on RT 202 in Greene as the teams were headed Auburn. No one was hurt and another bus was brought in to take the kids to the games.
Hampden police were called when someone walking their dog saw a woman tied to a tree in the woods. According to WCSH police and rescue responded and found not only the woman but a man as well. It apparently was consensual encounter of the "adult nature".
Waterville City Councilors voted to approve the fee increase for the outdoor pool on North Street. Centralmaine.com reports it will go up a $1 for daily admission and $5 for the season pass and $10 for the family season pass to offset costs.

A 5-year-old boy died after treated for severe hypothermia from falling into Outlet Stream in Vassalboro. The boy and his mom were canoeing when they went into the water. Both were taken to the hospital with hypothermia but the boy's was more severe. (more from centralmaine.com)
A Maine school worker says her employer reprimanded her for telling a co-worker that she'd pray for him. Toni Richardson, a special education technician, has filed a federal complaint against the Augusta School Department. She says she was "interrogated" by school officials about the remark and warned not to invoke religion again.
Maine's Republican governor says he'll take steps to prevent tiny alcohol bottles from being sold if a bottle deposit bill passes. Democratic Rep. Anne-Marie Mastraccio's amended bill would create a 5 cent deposit on the tiny bottles beginning in 2019 to curtail littering. Gov. Paul LePage says that if the bill passes, he'll veto it and instruct the state's alcohol and lottery bureau to delist all "nips" from sale in Maine.
Maine hunting officials are done collecting applications for the state's annual moose lottery, which is slated to give out slightly fewer permits this year. The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife plans to cut the number of moose permits to 2,080. That's 60 less than last year. The lottery will be held on June 17 at Caribou Parks and Recreation.
A politician, historian and author who worked to save Portsmouth Naval Shipyard _ twice _ has died. Neil Rolde, who was 85, was a state representative from 1974 to 1999 before he lost a U.S. Senate bid to Republican Bill Cohen.
President Donald Trump personally appealed to FBI Director James Comey to abandon the bureau's investigation into National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, according to notes disclosed late Tuesday that Comey wrote after the meeting. The White House issued a furious denial near the end of a tumultuous day that Trump officials spent beating back potentially disastrous news reports from dawn to dusk.
At least one person has been killed by a tornado that roared through a portion of a western Oklahoma town. The tornado struck about 7:15 p.m. Tuesday and wrecked much of a subdivision on the southern fringe of Elk City, Oklahoma, about 110 miles west of Oklahoma City.
European and U.S. transport and security officials will discuss Wednesday plans to broaden a U.S. ban on in-flight laptops and tablets to include planes from Europe. The move would create logistical chaos on the world's busiest corridor of air travel _ as many as 65 million people a year travel between Europe and North American on over 400 daily flights, many of them business travelers who rely on their electronics to work during the flight.
Pvt. Chelsea Manning is due to be released from a Kansas military prison after serving seven years of her 35-year sentence for leaking classified government materials to WikiLeaks. The transgender soldier is scheduled to be released from Fort Leavenworth on Wednesday in accordance with former President Barack Obama's decision to grant her clemency in his final days in office. She has indicated she plans to move to Maryland.
Georgia has carried out its first execution of the year, putting to death a man who fatally stabbed his neighbor 25 years ago. Authorities say 45-year-old J.W. Ledford Jr. was pronounced dead at 1:17 a.m. Wednesday at the state prison in Jackson.
