After the dog attack in August that injured a Winslow woman and killer her puppy, the Winslow police department is proposing changes to the town’s dog code. According to WABI, the town council will be voting on the first of two readings of the ordinance on today.

Advocates of a proposed whitewater rafting park in Skowhegan say it could bring in millions of dollars of revenue to the Maine city. A study indicates a park could bring in $6 million in revenue and create 40 jobs in its first year.

The campaign to legalize marijuana for recreational use in Maine is intensifying with less than a month to Election Day. Proponents already have spent more than a half-million dollars on TV ads, and a recent poll showed support for the referendum. But the same poll also indicated that about 10 percent of respondents remain undecided.

Gas prices are increasing in northern New England. GasBuddy shows that the average retail price went up 2.7 cents per gallon in Maine to $2.26  a gallon

Authorities say they've found the body of an all-terrain vehicle rider in Skowhegan who had been missing for at least two days. The Maine Warden Service says the 56-year-old Madison man was found on Sunday morning about a mile from his camp in Skowhegan where he had been staying.

The United Nations humanitarian agency in Geneva has made an emergency appeal for nearly $120 million in hurricane relief aid for Haiti. Officials say the impoverished nation has about 750,000 people in southwest Haiti alone that will need "life-saving assistance and protection" in the next three months. It's estimated that at least 1.4 million people across the region need assistance and that 2.1 million overall have been affected by Hurricane Matthew. Hundreds have been killed.

Donald Trump has told his backers that they have to guard against the election being "stolen from us." At a rally in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, Trump made his repeated claim that the "system is rigged." Repeated studies have shown there is no evidence of widespread voter fraud across the nation. Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton held a dueling rally in Ohio. She told a large Columbus crowd at Ohio State University that Trump has violated his talk of putting America first with the products he sells and by using Chinese steel at building projects.

Samsung Electronics says consumers with original Galaxy Note 7 devices or replacements they obtained after last month's global recall should turn them off and ask for a refund or exchange them for different phones. South Korean safety officials say a new defect has been detected in replacements unrelated to battery issues linked to overheating and fires. There have been cases of overheating and fires among the replacements as well.

Kids in the Chicago school district will be going to class Tuesday and their teachers will not be going on strike. The teachers union says after more than a year of negotiations, it's struck a tentative deal on a new contract. Chicago Teachers Union President Karen Lewis says the agreement isn't perfect, but is good for students, teachers and the city.

Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence is back campaigning with Donald Trump. Pence canceled a weekend campaign appearance and left Trump alone to deal with the fallout from a 2005 video in which Trump makes crude and predatory comments about women — remarks that Trump says were just "locker room talk." On Monday, Pence praised Trump for his Sunday debate performance and said, "We all fall short of the glory of God."
