Throwback Thursday – The Greatest Back To School Ad Of All Time

It's hard to believe that this ad came out 20 years ago in 1996, but it still holds up as a classic.

Yup, it's the classic Staples "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year" back to school ad. You know the one, as the Christmas classic "It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year" plays in the background a Dad, who is WAY too excited about school supplies goes shopping with his kids, who follow along as if they are on their way to an extended prison sentence.

This ad cracked me up before I even had kids, and now that I have a school-age daughter, it's even funnier, because I know EXACTLY what that Dad is thinking!

And here's my second favorite Staples ad, as classic rocker Alice Cooper has fun with one of his biggest songs, much to his daughter's chagrin.

And as an added bonus, here is a Canadian version of the "Most Wonderful Time of the Year" ad. FYI, Staples is known as Bureau En Gros in Quebec. They change the original concept just a bit, but it is still funny!
