Maine State Police have reported a crash this morning (Oct. 10) on Interstate 95 involving a tractor-trailer and pedestrian. The accident happened around about 11:30 am.

Marilyn Whitford, 67, of Orono was struck while getting out of her vehicle in the breakdown lane of the highway. According to centralmaine.com, the accident occurred in the southbound lane before exit 127 in Oakland. Her injuries are not life threatening. She was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

Police say the truck was driven by Martin Thurston, 42, of Fairfield. He swerved to avoid Whitford, but hit her. The truck is owned by Associated Grocers of Maine.
