According to WGME, on Monday morning, members of the Bowdoin College students, faculty, and staff were notified that someone from the campus community had been diagnosed with TB.

In the email, which came from the college's department of health services, it was explained the person had been isolated and was receiving treatment.  The email also explained that anyone who was at risk of contracting tuberculosis from the person had been identified and tested, and that there was no cause for concern.

According to wikipedia, Tuberculosis is an infectious disease that normally affects the lungs.  It is spread through the air (cough, sneeze, spit) by those who have "active" TB.  In 2017 about 1.6 million died of TB worldwide, mostly in developing countries.
