Turner Farm Named ‘Homesteaders of the Year’

Mother Earth News is the magazine giving out the award.  Nezinscot Farm sounds like a great place. According to their website Nezinscot Farm began as the first Organic Dairy in the state of Maine. The owners have expanded to have a gourmet food shop, a cafe and Bakery, a cheese shop, a sausage/meats shop and a fiber shop.

The owners, Gregg & Gloria Varney , even offer farm stays and retreats. And according to the Sun Journal have had apprentices on the farm and helped other farmers start on their path to farming.

Sounds like a great place. Congratulations on the honor and I think I see a road trip in my future to farm in Turner.
