Two Central Maine Men Face Charges for String of Burglaries
Two men are facing charges in connection with a string of burglaries in central Maine. Police say the men were caught after a homeowner found them in his barn.
Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland said in a press release that James Fields, 25 of Pittsfield and Jacob Graham, 18 of Hartland fled into the woods but were caught when a police canine unit tracked them down. Police believe the men are also responsible for five other daytime burglaries in Pittsfield, St. Albans, and Harmony. An investigation turned up several stolen items including an ice auger, electronics, work boots, and collectibles.
The two men were taken to Penobscot County jail and have since been released on bail. Police say all of the buildings they entered were either vacant or the occupants were not home.
