U.S. Soda Sales Have Dropped For the Third Year in a Row

Jupiterimages-ThinkStock

Do you drink soda? If your answer is no, you’re not alone. U.S. soda sales are down. In 2013 sales of carbonated beverages fell by about 3%. There were more modest declines in 2011 and 2012 as well.

Much of the loss in soda sales is due to diet sales dropping over worries about the artificial sweeteners.

Carbonated soft drinks still hold the largest slice of the beverage pie over all. Click here for the numbers and more on the story.

I know I’ve cut down myself a bit due to cost. I’ll buy soda if a 2-liter bottle is $1 or less. If 12 packs are four for $10, I’ll pick some up, but otherwise it’s just a treat. I’ll drink powdered iced tea, juice, water or coffee instead.
