Watch For A Scam Call If You’re A CMP Customer

Every so often a scam comes along that takes advantage of a few unsuspecting people. This one I thought I would alert you to because Central Maine Power (CMP) is involved and everyone pretty much south of Bangor has CMP.

Now for the scam, someone is calling and demanding payment for their CMP bill over the phone. The caller is telling customers of CMP to send money to fake accounts through money transfers.

The scammer is mostly calling smaller businesses in the cities of Augusta, Portland and the Lewiston-Auburn area so be aware.

If you feel you have been scammed please contact CMP. And just as a heads up, only use their website, mailing address to pay bills or an authorized agent.
