‘Retro Lunch’ Request Sparks Memory of the Anniversary of the Release of ‘We Are the World’
We just had a request for “We Are the World” on Retro Lunch! It just so happens today is the 28th anniversary of the song’s release, so we just had to play it.
“We Are the World” was a charity single written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie and originally recorded by the super group ‘USA for Africa.’ The song has sold in excess of 20 million copies and is one of the few singles to have sold 10 million (or more) copies worldwide.
The song was released on March 7, 1985.
