Remember the days being home sick from school or rainy days during the summer and morning TV with all of the game shows?

The granddaddy of them all was and still is ‘The Price is Right’, although back in the era I’m talking about, the host was Bob Barker. It’s still even fun today and exciting for me to watch someone win, “A NEW CAR" even though it's George Gray and Drew Carey.

The other staples still on are ‘Wheel of Fortune’ and ‘Jeopardy,’ but I want to focus more on the shows that are no longer around.

I remember ‘Card Sharks’ with host Jim Perry. That was the game show where you had to guess and bet on whether the next playing card was higher or lower.

The original ‘Press Your Luck’ best known for the saying “No Whammies, Big Bucks” was a favorite of mine as well back in the 80s.

Who can forget Richard Dawson kissing every girl on “Family Feud?” I’m not positive but I think he was drunk during the taping of those episodes. I often wondered what would happen if a woman turned away from Dawson’s smooch.

I also remember one called ‘Body Language’ and if I recall it was more or less Charades.

I also liked Dick Clark’s $25,000 Pyramid and the 70s Match Game seasons.

Another fun show to watch was ‘Scrabble’ with Chuck Woolery. In my top 5 game show host list shown below, Chuck Woolery would be either two or three just below Bob Barker and the Inquizitor.

The Inquizitor brings me to my next part of this story. All of the above shows were either network or national syndicated, now with advent of The Game Show Network or GSN many game shows are now exclusively made for the channel. The Inquiztion was one of my absolute favorites. Not a very well known show where it wasn’t on for very long but had me glued.

The hook to the show, you didn’t ever see the host. The camera was always to the presenters back showing the contestants. The “Inquizitor” was condescending and pompous and that is what made it a fun show. Certainly it was one of the best game shows of all time in my book.

Top 5 game show hosts would be, Bob Barker, The Inquizitor, Chuck Woolery, Richard Dawson and Dick Clark.

I’ve brought up a few of my favorite game shows and hosts, how about you and yours?
