Recently, President Obama said, “I don’t think it (marijuana) is more dangerous than alcohol.” What do you think? I come to this from an abstract place for the argument because I have really never been a pot smoker. Yes, in my late teens and early 20s, I tried hash, which is pretty much the same substance. It was only a couple of times, so I’m not really a good person to give an opinion, but from my understanding, marijuana as a natural crop without additives isn’t as evil as was once thought.

Are we scaling back our values and being more accepting because of the introduction of much harder substances now available or do we just know more about weed and its possible medicinal benefits?

I have a drink from time to time, and I think in moderation and consumed in a legal way it is a non-issue. Doctors, like Dr. Sanjay Gupta of CNN fame have done a 180 on the drug.

I’m not to the point of allowing pot in my house but if someone wants to smoke it, I take no real problem with it, in the same way if someone wants a drink it's their business.

That’s my take, what’s yours? Is the President right on this point?
