The 4th of July celebration in Winslow has to be one of the if not the largest 4th of July celebration in the state! Tonight it's the street dance which is still going on as I write this post. I was there while the band, 'Spare Change' performed. They performed a great set of 50s, 60s, 70s and a few 80s classic rock songs as well.

I also emceed the hot dog eating and whoopie pie eating contests. Not quite the 68 hot dogs that the winner consumes on Coney Island but the winner of the Winslow event ate 8.5 hot dogs. Great job!

What's cool about Winslow and how they do the 4th is, the Winslow 4th is largely if not all paid for through donations and sponsorships, very little if any public funds go into the Winslow Family 4th of July celebration. So enjoy it and thank the businesses on the banners.

Tomorrow, the Moose Caboose will be in the Winslow 4th of July parade which begins at Winslow High School at 10. It will be hot and humid so stay hydrated as you watch the floats go by. Don't worry about me, air conditioning will be my friend as the music plays from the roof top of the vehicle.
