It's official, winter has arrived in Central Maine. Today (Nov. 29), the area is under a winter weather advisory from the National Weather Service, and anyone out on the roads should be taking extra caution all day.

The advisory lasts until 4PM today as snow and freezing rain will hit the area.

Temperatures are near freezing this morning as precipitation moves in from the west. Precipitation may start as snow before transitioning to freezing rain and eventually rain for all of New Hampshire and most of western Maine. Portions of the western Maine mountains may remain snow for the majority of the day.

Temperatures will warm above freezing during the morning across most of New Hampshire as well as areas closer to the Maine coast.

Temperatures may remain near or below freezing into the afternoon

Across interior western Maine maintaining the threat for freezing rain. Precipitation will come to an end from west to east this evening into tonight.

The weather service  added that snow accumulation could be up to an inch and there could also be about 1/10 of an inch of ice, which will lead to slippery driving conditions through this afternoon. Use caution while driving.
