Officials say work on the expansion and renovation of Augusta's Lithgow Library is approximately 85 percent complete and will be finished this month.

Dan Anctil, J.F. Scott Construction's senior job superintendent for the project, tells The Kennebec Journal that work on the library will likely be completed by June 10.

Library director Elizabeth Pohl says it's wonderful to see everything coming together and she can't wait for everyone to see the refurbished 1896 structure.

Officials say the library's face-lift is a mix between a restoration of the historic building and the addition of new space.

Anctil says the project has been rewarding for his crew and he finds himself constantly marveling at the original structure's intricate details.

City Manager William Bridgeo says the project will come in under budget. (AP)
