Ya Can’t Fix Stupid; Waterville Theft Lands Augusta Woman in Police Custody
People say insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results. I think the word “stupid” is a better descriptor, myself. Take the case of Amy Marmanik of Augusta (click here for a pic)….
According to a newspaper article, Amy went into Walmart in Waterville and took a combination child stroller/car seat from the shelf. She then went to the customer service desk to return it. In exchange, she received a $220 gift card, according to Waterville Deputy Police Chief, Chip Rumsey.
When she left Walmart, the loss prevention staff from was already on to her and had contacted the po po, who saw her running from the Home Depot, just across the way. An officer chased her into the woods where she was arrested for theft and was charged with a felony because, surprise, SHE HAD STOLEN PREVIOUSLY! As with just about every miscreant, she was in violation of her conditions of release.
So, Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it’s back to jail she goes! I tell ya, people just don’t understand that if you don’t own it and haven’t paid for it, it’s NOT YOURS!
