Erskine Student First in a Field of 344 Runners in the Annual ‘Rise ‘N Shine’ Road Race

Eric Dodge, junior at Erskine Academy, won the annual KV YMCA 5k Road Race this morning.  The weather was clear and a crisp 38 degrees when the runners got underway at 6:35.

Eric has been running since he was a freshman and is on the Erskine Eagles cross country team.  He told me this was his first win in a race outside of high school.  He seemed like a great kid and I wish him the best of luck in his upcoming races!  By the way, his time was an impressive 17:58.

The first lady finisher, Rosalee Kimball, wasn't too far off the mark, coming in at 19:13.  She is well known among runners and has won other races.

Kennebec Savings Bank, which covers all the costs associated with the race, donates all proceeds back to the Kennebec Valley YMCA to go to youth scholarships.
