A woman from Belgrade, Maine, who was shot by her son is expected to survive.

According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety's Shannon Moss, 58-year-old Christina Bell was shot at her Point Road home in Belgrade on Sunday morning.

Maine State Police troopers and Delta Ambulance responded to the call, which came in at just after 11 AM on Sunday.  Bell was taken via LifeFlight helicopter to Maine Medical Center in Portland.  Due to the severity of her injuries, she was later transferred to a hospital in Boston.

Bell's son, 26-year-old Samuel Bell reportedly fled the residence following the shooting.  He was stopped by law enforcement a short time later.  Bell was taken into custody without further incident.

Samuel Bell is currently being held at the Kennebec County Correctional Facility.  The press release explains that he has been charged with Attempted Murder and Elevated Aggravated Assault.
