Over the last few years, we have seen far too many of our favorite restaurants close permanently.

These closures have been brought on by a number of reasons: lack of business, lack of employees, and retiring owner/operators who cannot find a suitable buyer.

Whatever the reason, we are always sad to see the places that we love to eat close their doors.

It looks like another popular Maine restaurant will be closing permanently.

According to an article on the WMTW website, Elsmere BBQ & Wood Grill, which has been a staple of South Portland's restaurant scene for over a decade, will close for the last time on Saturday, November 9th.

Owner Adam Powers announced the closure on social media.

The post said, in part:

We never could have anticipated the warmth and encouragement the community would provide to us. We thank you all for embracing us with open arms and allowing us to be the cornerstone of the neighborhood. While Jeremy and I thank all of you for your support over the last 11 years, our biggest thanks go to our amazing staff, the people who always greeted you with a smile, knew what you wanted to drink before you had a chance to order, and were the real heart and soul of Elsmere.

If you are a fan of the restaurant and want to pay tribute to the establishment, the article does explain that there is a fresh shipment of Elsmere apparel that is available for purchase.

There is still a few days left to get your BBQ fix.  Check out their menu HERE.
