Central Maine Police Officer Involved in Serious Crash on Monday Afternoon
A Maine police officer is recovering following a serious Monday afternoon crash.
According to an article on the WMTW website, Monmouth police Lt. Dana Wessling was driving his 'take-home' police vehicle, a 2022 Ford Interceptor, on Turner Center Road in Turner, when he was hit by an F-150 pickup truck. The article explains that the truck had reportedly crossed the center line when it was rounding a curve
After being extracted from his vehicle, Wessling had to be transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland by helicopter.
The crash reportedly happened at about 4:30 p.m., just after Wessling had picked his 7-year-old son up from daycare. The child was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle as a precautionary measure.
The driver of the other vehicle, 41-year-old Sean McNeil, of Minot, and his passenger, a 47-year-old woman from Turner, were transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. Their injuries were said to be serious, but not life-threatening.
We hope that everyone involved makes a quick recovery.
If the name Wessling sounds familiar it may be because he was credited with saving a woman lost in a snowstorm. That incident happened in February of 2020 and you can read about it HERE.
