It appears that one of the oldest eateries in Central Maine will soon close for the final time.

According to a post on the restaurant's Facebook page, the Riverfront BBQ & Grille, a locally owned BBQ place known for its ribs, smoked chicken, and amazing cornbread, will soon be closing permanently.

The post says, in part:

Riverfront Barbeque & Grille and The Gin Mill have had the absolute pleasure of serving this community for the last 23 years. Whether it was date nights, family get togethers, Christmas parties, every occasion was an honor. We have come to the hard decision of closing our doors

The Facebook post goes on to say that the restaurant will close on July 18th.

Of course, the closure of the Riverfront BBQ also means the closure of The Gin Mill.  For those who are not familiar, the Gin Mill is the bar upstairs at the Riverfront BBQ.  Giving off speakeasy vibes, the Gin Mill is a classy cocktail lounge featuring a long wooden bar, comfy seats, and some amazing cocktails.  It really is the perfect place to go have drinks with friends.

While we are sad to see the Riverfront BBQ and Gin Mill close, we are excited to see what comes next.

Of course, we wish the next operators all the best.
