If you are looking for a little spice and a lot of love, head to Route One in Saco, Maine.

A friend told me about Go See Tyceh BBQ, a Jamaican BBQ pit on Route One in Saco, Maine. I'm a fan of spice and trying all kinds of foods, so I headed to 810 Portland Road.

Once you meet Tyce, you'll be a fan. Once you try the food, you'll be back.

I was on the hunt for some wings to watch the last New England Patriots game and hope they lose.* As soon as I pulled into the parking lot, the blaring Jamaican music had me sold. Then I met Tyce, whose personality was just as loud as the blasting music.

Tyce is a nickname for Mabel Reid Wallace. Tyce is short for enticing, and her grandmother gave her that nickname. I told her I wanted to do a story about her awesome little BBQ place. Her face lit up and she told me she was about to go to Facebook to ask for help in growing her business,

...and then you walk in.

I love the stories behind the food that I love eating. Tyce was open and honest saying she moved to Maine from Boston after 'decades' as an educator. She and her husband moved to Maine. Unfortunately, she lost her husband to cancer since the move.

Why open a Jamaican BBQ place in Saco, Maine?

Tyce wanted to eat food she loved, but she couldn't find it in Maine. So, she created her own space making the food she loves. That includes jerk and sweet chili wings, fried chicken, mac and cheese, candied yams (her grandma's recipe), plantains, beans, rice, fried dumplings, jammin' cornbread, oxtail, jerk pork, and curries. Also, something called patties that look like what we know as empanadas.

I ordered wings, jerk pork, rice and beans and a side of mac and cheese. Then I noticed the fried chicken but didn't have my wallet. She said,

That's okay. Pay me the next time I see you.

The Jamaican BBQ 'Go See Tyce' in Saco, Maine is worth the trip!

The food was amazing. The wings were spicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The jerk sauce (her own creation) had just the right amount of spice and tons of flavor. The mac and cheese was a little too good, and that fried chicken was some of the best I've had.

Tyce is proud of what she has accomplished, decorating the place by herself and cooking with the help of her brother. She pours her heart and soul into the food and into making every customer feel like her best friend. She knew everyone's name who was there, and her energy was contagious! Please be adventurous and Go See Tyce! Also, try the oxtail too because if you like pot roast, you'll love it!

P.S. Ask her about her curtains. That material was supposed to be a dress.
